Abstract
Disclosed herein are methods of treating a hydroformylation catalyst solution wherein the solution comprises rhodium, polyphosphoramidite ligands, and polyphosphoramidite ligand degradation products and wherein the hydroformylation catalyst solution is used to hydroformylate an olefin in an operating hydroformylation unit. In some embodiments, such methods comprise contacting the catalyst solution with a peroxide in the operating hydroformylation unit.

A method of treating a hydroformylation catalyst solution comprising rhodium, polyphosphoramidite ligand, and polyphosphoramidite ligand degradation products, wherein the hydroformylation catalyst solution is used to hydroformylate an olefin in an operating hydroformylation unit, the method comprising:
- contacting the catalyst solution with a peroxide in the operating hydroformylation unit.
A method of treating a hydroformylation catalyst solution comprising rhodium, polyphosphoramidite ligand, and polyphosphoramidite ligand degradation products, wherein the hydroformylation catalyst solution is used to hydroformylate an olefin in an operating hydroformylation unit, the method comprising:
- contacting the catalyst solution with a peroxide in the operating hydroformylation unit, wherein the operating hydroformylation unit comprises a reaction zone and a separation zone, and wherein the catalyst solution is contacted with the peroxide in at least one of the following:
- (1) the reaction zone;
- (2) a stream on its way to the separation zone;
- (3) the separation zone;
- (4) a recycle stream returning to the reaction zone;
- (5) a fluid withdrawn from the reaction zone or the separation zone;
- (6) a fluid withdrawn from the reaction zone or the separation zone that has been treated with an aqueous buffer solution;
- (7) a fluid that has been treated with an aqueous buffer solution and being returned to the reaction zone or the separation zone;
- or
- (8) a fluid in an external cooler.
