Abstract
The present document describes methods of use of photo activated compositions for oral disinfection and/or treatments which comprise at least one oxidant, at least one photoactivator capable of activating the oxidant, and at least one healing factor chosen from hyaluronic acid, glucosamine and allantoin, in association with a pharmacologically acceptable carrier.
Claims15
A method of treating an oral disease, comprising:
- a) applying a composition comprising at least one oxidant, and fluorescein or a fluorescein derivative to an oral tissue;
- and
- b) applying actinic light having an emission wavelength between about 400 nm and 700 nm to said composition to photoexcite fluorescein or the fluorescein derivative, thereby treating said oral disease;
- wherein said oral disease is selected from oral thrush, lichen planus, oral mucositis, oral submucous fibrosis, and glossitis.
