Flexible displays with interlocking devices

A flexible display comprising:

• a first layer comprising a viewing area for viewing an image output for display by the flexible display;
• a second layer positioned substantially in parallel with the first layer;
• a bonding layer comprising an optically clear material and disposed between the first layer and the second layer;
• and
• an interlocking device disposed within the bonding layer and under the viewing area, wherein the interlocking device comprises:
• a first interlocking component coupled to the first layer;
• and
• a second interlocking component coupled to the second layer, the second interlocking component being configured to engage with the first interlocking component to prevent a separation of the first layer from the second layer along a direction generally perpendicular to parallel inner surfaces of the first layer and the second layer.
