Abstract
In accordance with some embodiments, systems, apparatus, interfaces, methods, and articles of manufacture are provided for ascertaining aspects of a user, such as the user's identity, competence, health, and state of mind. In various embodiments, data is captured about a user via a headset worn by the user. Based on the data, a determination may be made about an aspect of the user, and the user may accordingly be granted or denied access to a resource.
Claims30
A headset for authenticating a first user based on brain activity of the first user, the headset comprising:
- an electronic processing device;
- a set of electrodes, each electrode operable to detect an electrical potential at a respective point on a head of a first user;
- an amplifier in communication with each of the electrodes and with the electronic processing device, the amplifier operable to amplify differences in the electrical potentials detected at the respective electrodes;
- a camera in communication with the electronic processing device;
- and
- a memory storing (i) image analysis instructions, (ii) stored object data, (iii) stored brain wave data, and (iv) processing instructions that, when executed by the electronic processing device, result in:
- capturing, at a first time and by the camera, an image;
- identifying, by an execution of the image analysis instructions by the electronic processing device, an object in the image;
- identifying, by the electronic processing device and by matching the identified object to a portion of the stored object data, the object as an object that should be familiar to the first user;
- sensing, by the set of electrodes and at a second time proximate to and following the first time, a waveform representing a time-varying difference in electrical potentials across the set of electrodes;
- identifying, by the electronic processing device and by comparing the sensed waveform to the stored brain wave data, a deviation of the waveform from the stored brain wave data;
- identifying, by the electronic processing device and by comparing the identified deviation to a stored threshold, that the first user has exhibited a brain wave response to the object in the image;
- and
- authorizing, in response to the identifying of the brain wave response to the object in the image, the first user to access a resource.
A headset for authenticating a first user based on verification of the first user by a second user, the headset comprising:
- an arcuate housing operable to be removably coupled to a head of a first user;
- an electronic processing device coupled to the housing;
- a speaker in communication with the electronic processing device;
- a microphone in communication with the electronic processing device;
- and
- a memory storing (i) human identification instructions, (ii) speech recognition instructions, and (iii) processing instructions that, when executed by the electronic processing device, result in:
- identifying, by the electronic processing device, a proximity of a second user with respect to the first user;
- identifying, by an execution of the human identification instructions by the electronic processing device, the second user;
- determining, by the electronic processing device, that the second user is a member of a trusted group of users;
- outputting, by the speaker, an audible instruction requesting that the second user verify an identify of the first user;
- receiving, by the microphone, a verbal response from the second user;
- computing, by an execution of the speech recognition instructions by the electronic processing device and based on the verbal response from the second user, an indication of a verification of the first user by the second user;
- and
- authorizing, in response to the computing of the indication of the verification of the first user by the second user, the first user to access a resource.
A headset for authenticating a first user based on an on-going, multi-tiered authentication process, the headset comprising:
- an electronic processing device;
- a speaker in communication with the electronic processing device;
- a microphone in communication with the electronic processing device;
- a positioning system in communication with the electronic processing device;
- an accelerometer in communication with the electronic processing device;
- and
- a memory storing (i) point allocation instructions, (ii) referential instructions, and (iii) processing instructions that, when executed by the electronic processing device, result in:
- outputting, by the speaker, a query to a user;
- receiving, by the microphone and in response to the query, a response from the user;
- computing, by an execution of the point allocation instructions by the electronic processing device and based on the response from the user, a first number of points;
- identifying, by the positioning system, a location of the user;
- computing, by an execution of the point allocation instructions by the electronic processing device and based on the location of the user, a second number of points;
- sensing, by the microphone, background noise in an environment of the user;
- identifying, by an execution of the referential instructions by the electronic processing device and based on the background noise, a deviation of the background noise to a stored data descriptive of reference background noise;
- computing, by an execution of the point allocation instructions by the electronic processing device and based on the deviation of the background noise, a third number of points;
- sensing, by the accelerometer, a movement of the user;
- identifying, by an execution of the referential instructions by the electronic processing device and based on the movement of the user, a gesture corresponding to the movement of the user;
- computing, by an execution of the point allocation instructions by the electronic processing device and based on the gesture, a fourth number of points;
- calculating, based on the first, second, third, and fourth numbers of points, an authorization score;
- identifying that the calculated authorization score meets a threshold criterion for authorization;
- and
- authorizing, in response to the identifying that the calculated authorization score meets the threshold criterion for authorization, the first user to access a resource.
