Abstract
An apparatus or method to give a user information about, and control of, internal and/or external microphone(s) so that the user can make adjustments to audio recording in real time. The method includes choosing microphones, displaying visual representations of microphones, capturing an acoustic source using a microphone, allowing a user to interact with a visual representation of a microphone to select or deselect the microphone, and processing of the audio signal from the acoustic source captured by a microphone.
Claims23
A method comprising:
- determining presence of at least two microphones with an apparatus, where each of the at least two microphones is configured to generate a respective audio signal when in use, wherein at least one of the at least two microphones is physically separate from the apparatus and at least one other one of the at least two microphones is physically part of the apparatus;
- sensing respective positions of the at least two microphones;
- causing at least one respective visual representation to be displayed for a respective microphone of the at least two microphones, wherein the at least one visual representation is configured to be interacted with use of an interaction, wherein the at least one visual representation is displayed at a location on a display corresponding to the respective position of the respective microphone relative to at least one other microphone of the at least two microphones;
- in response to the interaction with the at least one visual representation, selecting at least one of the at least two microphones to capture an acoustic source, wherein the selecting comprises causing the at least one other microphone of the at least two microphones to not be selected such that the at least one other microphone is not in use;
- capturing the acoustic source using the selected at least one microphone;
- and
- processing at least one of the respective audio signals of the selected at least one microphone at least partially dependent on the interaction.

An apparatus comprising:
- at least one processor and at least one non-transitory memory including computer program code, the at least one non-transitory memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to:
- determine presence of at least two microphones with the apparatus, where each of the at least two microphones is configured to generate a respective audio signal when in use, wherein at least one of the at least two microphones is physically separate from the apparatus and at least one other one of the at least two microphones is physically part of the apparatus;
- sense respective positions of the at least two microphones;
- cause at least one respective visual representation to be displayed for a respective microphone of the at least two microphones, wherein the at least one visual representation is configured to be interacted with use of an interaction, wherein the at least one visual representation is displayed at a location on a display corresponding to the respective position of the respective microphone relative to at least one other microphone of the at least two microphones;
- in response to the interaction with the at least one visual representation, select at least one of the at least two microphones to capture an acoustic source, wherein the selection comprises causing the at least one other microphone of the at least two microphones to not be selected such that the at least one other microphone is not in use;
- capture the acoustic source using the selected at least one microphone;
- and
- process at least one of the respective audio signals of the selected at least one microphone at least partially dependent on the interaction.
5 more elements
An apparatus comprising:
- at least one processor, and
- at least one non-transitory memory including computer program code,
- wherein the at least one non-transitory memory and the computer program code are configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to:
- determine a presence of at least two microphones with the apparatus, where each of the microphones is configured to generate a respective audio signal, wherein at least one of the microphones is physically separate from the apparatus and at least one other one of the microphones is physically part of the apparatus;
- sense respective positions of the at least two microphones;
- cause at least one respective visual representation to be displayed for a respective microphone of the at least two microphones, wherein the at least one visual representation is displayed at a location on a display corresponding to the respective position of the respective microphone relative to at least one other microphone of the at least two microphones;
- and
- in response to an interaction with the at least one visual representation, select at least one of the at least two microphones to capture an acoustic source and process at least one of the respective audio signals of the selected at least one microphone at least partially dependent on the interaction,
- wherein the at least one visual representation is displayed on the display of the apparatus, and wherein processing the at least one of the respective audio signals of the selected at least one microphone comprises utilizing the at least one respective audio signal of the selected at least one microphone along with at least one other audio signal of at least another one of the at least two microphones to assist in capturing the acoustic source.
