Abstract
In one embodiment, a method comprises communicating with a plurality of network elements via a first communication protocol to obtain state information of the plurality of network elements; receiving a request via a second communication protocol for a communication session to be established for a client computing device; selecting one or more network elements, wherein the selection is based on at least a portion of the state information of the network elements; and communicating identification information of the one or more network elements selected for use in the communication session.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- communicating, by a first network element comprising processing logic, with a plurality of network elements via a first communication protocol to obtain information relating to the plurality of network elements;
- determining that a client computing device has a first active communication session using a first one or more network elements of the plurality of network elements, wherein the obtained information relating to the plurality of network elements comprises session information relating to the first active communication session and the first one or more network elements;
- receiving a request via a second communication protocol for a second communication session to be established for the client computing device;
- selecting, by the first network element, a second one or more network elements, of the plurality of network elements, for use in the second communication session, wherein the selection is based on the session information;
- and
- communicating, by the first network element, identification information of the second one or more network elements selected for use in the second communication session.
An apparatus comprising:
- a communication interface comprising a transmitter and a receiver;
- a processor;
- and
- a memory containing a program that, when executed on the processor, performs an operation, the operation comprising:
- communicating with a plurality of network elements via a first communication protocol to obtain information relating to the plurality of network elements;
- determining that a client computing device has a first active communication session using a first one or more network elements of the plurality of network elements, wherein the obtained information relating to the plurality of network elements comprises session information relating to the first active communication session and the first one or more network elements;
- receiving a request via a second communication protocol for a second communication session to be established for the client computing device;
- selecting a second one or more network elements, of the plurality of network elements, for use in the second communication session, wherein the selection is based on the session information;
- and
- communicating identification information of the second one or more network elements selected for use in the second communication session.
At least one computer-readable non-transitory media comprising one or more instructions that when executed by a processor is to configure the processor to cause the performance of operations comprising:
- communicating, by a first network element comprising processing logic, with a plurality of network elements via a first communication protocol to obtain information relating to the plurality of network elements;
- determining that a client computing device has a first active communication session using a first one or more network elements of the plurality of network elements, wherein the obtained information relating to the plurality of network elements comprises session information relating to the first active communication session and the first one or more network elements;
- receiving a request via a second communication protocol for a second communication session to be established for the client computing device;
- selecting, by the first network element, a second one or more network elements, of the plurality of network elements, for use in the second communication session, wherein the selection is based on the session information;
- and
- communicating, by the first network element, identification information of the second one or more network elements selected for use in the second communication session.
