Privacy and security of personal information stored in communicatively connected and synchronized devices in a short-range wireless network

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising computer readable instructions which when executed by a processor of a source computing device causes the source computing device to perform a method comprising:

• responsive to receiving a request to clean privacy information of a user from a target device, creating and storing a backup copy of a data file of the source computing device,
• wherein the data file comprises the privacy information of the user that has been shared with the target device by the source computing device and is stored in the target device, and
• wherein the source computing device is communicatively coupled to the target device;
• deleting the data file;
• creating a replacement file for the data file that is deleted, wherein data entries in the replacement file are populated with non-sensitive data, and
• synchronizing the source computing device with the target device such that the replacement file overwrites the privacy information of the user stored in the target device with the data entries of the replacement file;
• responsively, disabling radio frequency communication channel that allows the first device to communicate with the second device;
• and
• restoring the data file in the source computing device using the backup copy of the data file.
