## Abstract

As described herein, the present invention features compositions comprising an HGF/IgG complex and methods of using such compositions to reduce ischemic reperfusion injury.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for reducing vascular endothelial cell damage or vascular endothelial cell death following myocardial ischemia with reperfusion in a subject, the method comprising administering to the subject intra-arterially a composition comprising an HGF/IgG complex at the time of reperfusion, wherein the HGF/IgG complex does not comprise an antibody-antigen interaction, thereby reducing vascular endothelial cell damage or vascular endothelial cell death following myocardial ischemia with reperfusion relative to a reference.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the method increases vascular integrity in the subject.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the method reduces vascular permeability.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the cell death occurs during hypoxia.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the subject is a human subject.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the step of administering results in activating receptor-like tyrosine kinase (RYK) by phosphorylation.
