Abstract
Compositions and methods for the treatment of onychomycosis. The compositions include a pharmaceutically effective amount of polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB), polyaminopropyl biguanide (PAPB), and/or chlorhexidine (CHG) in a petrolatum carrier.
Claims19
A method of treating onychomycosis in a subject, the method comprising applying a petrolatum-based polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) composition to the nail of a subject in need of treatment, wherein the petrolatum-based PHMB composition comprises greater than about 90% by weight petrolatum.
A method of treating a fungal infection of the nail, the method comprising applying a petrolatum-based composition comprising a petrolatum-based polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) composition to the nail of a subject in need of treatment, wherein the petrolatum-based PHMB composition comprises from about 0.1% to about 1% by weight PHMB and greater than 90% by weight petrolatum.
