Abstract
Methods and devices for retracting tissue in a surgical procedure to allow access to the surgical site. Retractor systems and methods that comprise a retractor frame comprising rotatable arms and a linearly translatable arm, the rotatable arms and the linearly translatable arm each coupled to blades that can angulate.
Claims20
A retractor system comprising:
- a retractor frame comprising first, second, and third arms;
- a first blade coupled to a distal end of the first arm, a second blade coupled to a distal end of the second arm, and a third blade coupled to a distal end of the third arm, wherein when in a closed position, the first, second, and third blades are radially disposed around a central bore having a diameter, and when in an open position, the first and second blades are configured to be angulated and the third blade is configured to be linearly translated and angulated to enlarge the diameter of the central bore;
- and
- a first actuator coupled to one of the first, second, or third arm, wherein the first actuator is movable with respect to the one of the first, second, or third arm while remaining engaged with the one of the first, second, or third arm to angulate the one of the first, second, or third arm and angulate the first, second, or third blade, corresponding to the arm to which the first actuator is coupled
- wherein the angulation of the first, second, or third blade is an infinite angle adjustment.

- a first actuator coupled to the first arm, wherein the first actuator is movable with respect to the first arm while remaining engaged with the first arm to angulate the first arm and angulate the first blade;
- and
- a second actuator coupled to the second arm, wherein the second actuator is movable with respect to the second arm while remaining engaged with the second arm to angulate the second arm and angulate the second blade,
- wherein the angulation of the first arm and the first blade or the angulation of the second arm and the second blade is an infinite angle adjustment.
