Streaming network adapted to content selection

A streaming server comprising:

• a memory device storing instructions causing at least one hardware processor to:
• acquire a pure signal capturing a panorama;
• generate, from the pure video signal, a derivative signal representing full spatial coverage of the panorama and compatible with an available capacity of a network path to a client device;
• send the derivative signal to the client device;
• receive view-region selection parameters, based on the derivative signal, from the client device;
• obtain a partial-coverage signal from the pure video signal according to the view-region selection parameters;
• transmit the partial-coverage signal to the client device;
• receive performance measurements from the client device;
• determine a permissible flow rate of the partial-coverage signal based on the performance measurements;
• encode the partial-coverage signal according to the permissible flow rate to produce an encoded partial-coverage signal;
• and
• transmit the encoded partial-coverage signal to the client device;
• thereby the streaming server provides client-defined content at an appropriate flow rate.

A streaming server comprising:

• at least one hardware processor for executing processor-readable instructions organized into:
• a glance module for generating, from a pure-video signal capturing a panorama, a derivative signal representing full spatial coverage of the panorama and compatible with an available capacity of a network path to a client device;
• a content filter for extracting a partial-coverage signal from the pure video signal according to acquired view-region selection parameters;
• a flow controller for determining a permissible flow rate based on acquired performance measurements of a network path from the streaming server to a client device;
• an encoding module for encoding a signal according to the permissible flow rate;
• and
• a master controller configured to:
• receive and direct the pure video signal to the glance module;
• send the derivative signal generated at the glance module to the client device;
• receive specific view-region selection parameters from the client device based on the derivative signal;
• obtain a partial-coverage signal of the pure video signal according to the specific view-region selection parameters;
• and
• transmit the respective partial-coverage signal to the client device.
