Abstract
In one embodiment, a method for collecting lane data is disclosed. The method includes collecting lane data, for a lane of a plurality of lanes of a road, from one or more sensors of a vehicle traveling in the lane. The method includes receiving an identifier of a lane of the plurality of lanes. The identified lane is a lane-of-interest and is different from the lane that the vehicle is traveling in. The method includes determining that the vehicle is not occupied. The method includes causing, in response to determining that the vehicle is not occupied, the vehicle to travel in the lane-of-interest. The method includes collecting lane data, for the lane-of-interest from the one or more sensors.
Claims20
A lane selection system for collecting lane data, the system comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- a memory communicably coupled to the one or more processors and storing:
- a lane interest module including instructions that when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to:
- in response to a determination that a vehicle is traveling on a road with a plurality of lanes:
- determine a lane of the plurality of lanes that has one or more infrastructure defects;
- and
- designate the lane of the plurality of lanes that has the one or more infrastructure defects as a first lane-of-interest;
- and
- a collection module including instructions that when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to:
- in response to a determination that the vehicle is not traveling in the first lane-of-interest, generate a control signal to cause the vehicle to travel in the first lane-of-interest.
A method for collecting lane data, the method comprising:
- collecting, by a processor, lane data for a current lane of a plurality of lanes of a road from one or more sensors of a vehicle traveling in the current lane;
- receiving, by the processor, an identifier of a lane of the plurality of lanes, wherein the lane associated with the identifier is a lane-of-interest and is different from the current lane, the lane-of-interest being a lane of the plurality of lanes that has one or more infrastructure defects;
- in response to a determination that the vehicle is not occupied and that the vehicle is not traveling in the lane-of-interest, generating, by the processor, a control signal to cause the vehicle to travel in the lane-of-interest;
- and
- collecting, by the processor, lane data for the lane-of-interest from the one or more sensors.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium for collecting lane data and including instructions that when executed by one or more processors cause the one or more processors to:
- in response to a determination that a vehicle is traveling on a road with a plurality of lanes:
- determine a lane of the plurality of lanes that has one or more infrastructure defects;
- and
- designate the lane of the plurality of lanes that has the one or more infrastructure defects as a first lane-of-interest;
- determine that the vehicle is not traveling in the first lane-of-interest;
- and
- in response to a determination that the vehicle is not traveling in the first lane-of-interest, generate a control signal to cause the vehicle to travel in the first lane-of-interest.
