Abstract
The present disclosure provides compositions and methods that are useful in removing, lowering the amount of, or otherwise controlling hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans. The compositions and methods can be used in any industry where hydrogen sulfide poses problems, such as when dealing with crude oil based, natural gas based, and/or coal based products. The present disclosure provides compositions and methods that can reduce the amount of or eliminate hydrogen sulfide in a variety of mediums.
Claims15
A method of treating hydrogen sulfide in a stream comprising:
- adding a composition to a stream comprising an amount of hydrogen sulfide, wherein the composition comprises one or more scavenger compounds having the following general formula:
- wherein C1-C6 are independently selected from the group consisting of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur;
- R1-R6 are independently selected from hydrogen or
- X is nitrogen;
- Y is selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur;
- and each n is independently selected from a number in a range of 1-6;
