Abstract
An encoding method includes obtaining an image frame to be encoded. The image frame includes one or more image blocks. The method further includes determining one or more complexities of the one or more image blocks. Each of the one or more complexities corresponds to one of the one or more image blocks. The method also includes encoding the one or more image blocks based on the one or more complexities.
Claims20
An encoding method comprising:
- obtaining an image frame to be encoded, the image frame including one or more image blocks;
- determining one or more complexities of the one or more image blocks, each of the one or more complexities corresponding to one of the one or more image blocks;
- determining an average complexity of the image frame based on the one or more complexities of the one or more image blocks and an average pixel value of the image frame;
- obtaining a normalized complexity of the image frame by dividing the average complexity of the image frame by the average pixel value of the image frame;
- and
- encoding the one or more image blocks based on at least one of the one or more complexities of the one or more image blocks, the average complexity of the image frame, or the normalized complexity of the image frame.

An encoding apparatus comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory storing program instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
- obtain an image frame to be encoded, the image frame including one or more image blocks;
- determine one or more complexities of the one or more image blocks, each of the one or more complexities corresponding to one of the one or more image blocks;
- determine an average complexity of the image frame based on the one or more complexities of the one or more image blocks and an average pixel value of the image frame;
- obtain a normalized complexity of the image frame by dividing the average complexity of the image frame by the average pixel value of the image frame;
- and
- encode the one or more image blocks based on at least one of the one or more complexities of the one or more image blocks, the average complexity of the image frame, or the normalized complexity of the image frame.
