Abstract
Twisted pair communication cables that include reduced or minimal use of colorant may include a plurality of twisted pairs of individually insulated conductors, and the respective insulation formed around each conductor included in the plurality of twisted pairs may include one or more polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant. Individual shield layers may be provided for two or more of the plurality of twisted pairs. Physical indicia may be selectively formed on at least two of the shield layers, and the physical indicia may facilitate identification of the plurality of twisted pairs. Additionally, a jacket may be formed around the plurality of twisted pairs and the shield layers.
Claims20
A cable, comprising:
- a plurality of twisted pairs of individually insulated conductors, the respective insulation formed around each conductor included in the plurality of twisted pairs comprising one or more first polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant;
- a plurality of shield layers comprising a respective individual shield layer formed around each of the plurality of twisted pairs;
- a plurality of physical indicia selectively formed on at least two of the plurality of shield layers, the plurality of physical indicia comprising first physical indicia formed on a first of the plurality of shield layers and second physical indicia different than the first physical indicia formed on a second of the plurality of shield layers, wherein the plurality of physical indicia facilitate identification of the plurality of twisted pairs;
- and
- a jacket formed around the plurality of twisted pairs and the plurality of shield layers, the jacket comprising one or more second polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant.
A cable, comprising:
- a plurality of twisted pairs of individually insulated conductors, wherein the respective insulation formed around each conductor included in the plurality of twisted pairs comprises one or more polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant;
- a first shield layer formed around a first of the plurality of twisted pairs;
- a second shield layer formed around a second of the plurality of twisted pairs;
- first physical indicia selectively formed on the first shield layer;
- second physical indicia selectively formed on the second shield layer, the second physical indicia different than the first physical indicia, wherein the first and second physical indicia facilitate identification of the plurality of twisted pairs;
- and
- a jacket formed around the plurality of twisted pairs and the plurality of shield layers.
A cable, comprising:
- four twisted pairs of individually insulated conductors, the respective insulation formed around each conductor included in the four twisted pairs comprising one or more polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant;
- four individual shield layers, wherein a respective shield layer is formed around each of the four twisted pairs;
- a plurality physical indicia selectively formed on at least two of the four shield layers, the plurality of physical indicia comprising first physical indicia formed on a first of the four shield layers and second physical indicia different than the first physical indicia formed on a second of the four shield layers, wherein the plurality of physical indicia facilitate identification of the four twisted pairs;
- a jacket formed around four twisted pairs and the four shield layers.
