Abstract
Twisted pair communication cables that include reduced or minimal use of colorant may include a plurality of twisted pairs of individually insulated conductors, and the respective insulation formed around each conductor may not be blended or compounded with any colorant. A separator may be positioned between at least two of the plurality of twisted pairs, and the separator may include one or more physical indicia that facilitate identification of the plurality of twisted pairs. A jacket may be formed around the plurality of twisted pairs and the separator.
Claims22
A cable, comprising:
- a plurality of twisted pairs of individually insulated conductors, the respective insulation formed around each conductor included in the plurality of twisted pairs comprising one or more first polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant;
- a separator positioned between at least two of the plurality of twisted pairs, the separator comprising a plurality of prongs extending from a central point, wherein the plurality of prongs includes a first prong extending between a first set of adjacent pairs included in the plurality of twisted pairs and a second prong extending between a second set of adjacent pairs included in the plurality of twisted pairs;
- a plurality of physical indicia formed on the separator, wherein the plurality of physical indicia comprise first physical indicia formed on the first prong and second physical indicia different from the first physical indicia formed on the second prong, wherein the plurality of physical indicia facilitate identification of the plurality of twisted pairs;
- and
- a jacket formed around the plurality of twisted pairs and the separator, the jacket comprising one or more second polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant.
A cable, comprising:
- a plurality of twisted pairs of individually insulated conductors, wherein the respective insulation formed around each conductor included in the plurality of twisted pairs comprises one or more first polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant;
- a separator positioned between at least two of the plurality of twisted pairs, the separator comprising one or more second polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant, wherein the separator comprises:
- a plurality of prongs, each of the plurality of prongs extending between an adjacent set of pairs included in the plurality of twisted pairs and comprising opposing surfaces that face each pair included in the adjacent set of pairs;
- and
- a plurality of physical indicia that facilitate identification of the plurality of twisted pairs, the plurality of physical indicia comprising first physical indicia formed on a first surface included in the plurality of prongs and second physical indicia different than the first physical indicia formed on a second surface included in the plurality of prongs different than the first surface;
- and
- a jacket formed around the plurality of twisted pairs and the separator, the jacket comprising one or more third polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant.
A cable, comprising:
- four twisted pairs of individually insulated conductors, the respective insulation formed around each conductor included in the four twisted pairs comprising one or more first polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant;
- a cross-filler separator positioned between at least two of the four twisted pairs, the separator comprising a plurality of physical indicia that facilitate identification of the four twisted pairs, the plurality of physical indicia comprising first physical indicia formed on a first prong of the cross-filler and second physical indicia different from the first physical indicia formed on a second prong of the cross-filler;
- and
- a jacket formed around the four twisted pairs and the separator, the jacket comprising one or more second polymeric materials that are not blended or compounded with any colorant.
