Abstract
Systems and methods for using wireless beacons in point of purchase (“POP”) displays to facilitate the delivery of consumer oriented content to mobile devices is disclosed herein. Wireless beacons may be used to broadcast wireless signals from POP displays, where the wireless signals include data packets with unique identifiers for the wireless beacons. The wireless signals may be received by mobile devices. A wireless network gateway may also receive the wireless signals. A remote server may communicate with the mobile device and/or the wireless network gateway where the remote server includes a database with up-to-date content associated with the POP displays.
Claims18
A wireless content delivery system, comprising:
- a circuit board coupled to a point of purchase (POP) display comprising a consumer product display, the POP display being deployed at a retail location, wherein the circuit board comprises a processor and a wireless beacon, and wherein the circuit board broadcasts one or more wireless signals from the wireless beacon, wherein the wireless signals include data packets, the data packets comprising a unique identifier for the wireless beacon;
- a mobile device comprising a processor, a display, a wireless transceiver, a memory cache, and a software package installed on the mobile device, the software package comprising a mobile application and a software developer kit (SDK), wherein the mobile device is configured to:
- receive content associated with the POP display from a remote server;
- store the received content associated with the POP display in the memory cache of the mobile device;
- receive at least one data packet in at least one wireless signal from the wireless beacon, the at least one data packet comprising the unique identifier for the wireless beacon;
- retrieve the content associated with the POP display stored in the memory cache in response to receiving the at least one data packet comprising the unique identifier for the wireless beacon;
- display the retrieved content on the display of the mobile device in response to receiving the at least one data packet in the at least one wireless signal;
- a wireless network gateway positioned at the retail location, the retail location of the wireless network gateway being known to the remote server before the POP display is deployed to the retail location, wherein the network gateway is configured to:
- receive at least one data packet in at least one wireless signal from the wireless beacon;
- and
- provide the unique identifier to the remote server in response to receiving the at least one data packet in the at least one wireless signal;
- and
- the remote server, the remote server comprising a processor and a database, wherein:
- the database comprises up-to-date content associated with the POP display,
- the POP display is one of a group of POP displays associated with a selected campaign,
- the POP display has been randomly distributed from a storage location to the retail location,
- the remote server is configured to associate the POP display with the retail location of the wireless network gateway known to the remote server in response to receiving the unique identifier for the wireless beacon from the wireless network gateway, and
- the retail location that the POP display has been distributed to from the storage location is unknown to the remote server until the remote server receives the unique identifier for the wireless beacon from the wireless network gateway.
A method comprising:
- broadcasting one or more wireless signals from a wireless beacon, wherein the wireless signals include data packets, the data packets comprising a unique identifier for the wireless beacon, wherein the wireless beacon is coupled to a point of purchase (POP) display comprising a consumer product display, the POP display being deployed at a retail location;
- receiving in a mobile device, content associated with the POP display from a remote server, wherein the mobile device comprises a processor, a display, a wireless transceiver, a memory cache, and a software package installed on the mobile device, the software package comprising a mobile application and a software developer kit (SDK);
- storing the received content associated with the POP display in the memory cache of the mobile device;
- receiving in the mobile device, at least one data packet in at least one wireless signal from the wireless beacon, the at least one data packet comprising the unique identifier for the wireless beacon;
- retrieving the content associated with the POP display stored in the memory cache of the mobile device in response to receiving the at least one data packet comprising the unique identifier for the wireless beacon;
- displaying the retrieved content on the display of the mobile device in response to receiving the at least one data packet comprising the unique identifier for the wireless beacon;
- receiving, in a wireless network gateway positioned at the retail location, at least one data packet in at least one wireless signal from the wireless beacon, the at least one data packet comprising the unique identifier for the wireless beacon;
- and
- providing the unique identifier to a remote server in response to receiving, at the wireless network gateway, the at least one data packet in the at least one wireless signal, wherein the retail location of the wireless network gateway is known to the remote server before the POP display is deployed to the retail location, and wherein the remote server comprises a processor and a database, the database comprising up-to-date content associated with the POP display.
A non-transient computer-readable medium including instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to perform a method, comprising:
- broadcasting one or more wireless signals from a wireless beacon, wherein the wireless signals include data packets, the data packets comprising a unique identifier for the wireless beacon, wherein the wireless beacon is coupled to a point of purchase (POP) display comprising a consumer product display, the POP display being deployed at a retail location;
- receiving, in a mobile device, content associated with the POP display from a remote server, wherein the mobile device comprises a processor, a display, a wireless transceiver, a memory cache, and a software package installed on the mobile device, the software package comprising a mobile application and a software developer kit (SDK);
- storing the received content associated with the POP display in the memory cache of the mobile device;
- receiving, in the mobile device, at least one data packet in at least one wireless signal from the wireless beacon, the at least one data packet comprising the unique identifier for the wireless beacon;
- retrieving the content associated with the POP display stored in the memory cache of the mobile device in response to receiving the at least one data packet comprising the unique identifier for the wireless beacon;
- displaying the retrieved content on the display of the mobile device in response to receiving the at least one data packet comprising the unique identifier for the wireless beacon;
- receiving, in a wireless network gateway positioned at the retail location, at least one data packet in at least one wireless signal from the wireless beacon, the at least one data packet comprising the unique identifier for the wireless beacon;
- and
- providing the unique identifier to a remote server in response to receiving, at the wireless network gateway, the at least one data packet in the at least one wireless signal, wherein the retail location of the wireless network gateway is known to the remote server before the POP display is deployed to the retail location, and wherein the remote server comprises a processor and a database, the database comprising up-to-date content associated with the POP display.
