Writing messages in a shared memory architecture for a vehicle

A vehicle comprising:

• a first component implemented on at least one first processor and that executes one or more first executable instructions to read messages related to a first topic;
• and
• a second component implemented on at least one second processor and that executes one or more second executable instructions to:
• generate a first message associated with a first topic;
• determine a offset in a first storage location that indicates an end of the first message when the first message is written to the first storage location, wherein the first storage location is stored in a first shared memory region of the vehicle separate from the second component and is accessible to the second component via a first communication bus;
• update, via a second communication bus, a topic record associated with the first topic that is stored in a second storage location, the topic record updated to include the offset to indicate an allocated space for the first message, and wherein the second storage location is stored in a second shared memory region of the vehicle separate from the second component and is accessible to the second component via the second communication bus;
• and
• write, via the first communication bus, the first message to a portion of the first storage location, wherein the portion at which the first message is stored is accessible to the first component.

A system implemented on a vehicle, the system comprising:

• a first shared memory region comprising a first storage location;
• a second shared memory region comprising a second storage location;
• and
• a component implemented on at least one second processor and that executes one or more executable instructions to:
• generate a first message associated with a first topic;
• determine a first offset in the first storage location that indicates an end of the first message when the first message is written to the first storage location, wherein the first storage location is accessible to the component via a first communication bus;
• update, via a second communication bus, a topic record associated with the first topic that is stored in the second storage location, the topic record updated to include the first offset to indicate an allocated space for the first message, and wherein the second storage location is accessible to the component via the second communication bus;
• and
• write, via the first communication bus, the first message to a portion of the first storage location, wherein the portion at which the first message is stored is accessible to a second component configured to read messages related to the first topic.
