Abstract
Examples provide an apparatus for instantiating a virtualised part of a next generation Node B, gNB, comprising a Network Functions Virtualisation Orchestrator, operable to carry out any one or more tasks including on-boarding an VNF package, on-boarding a PNF Descriptor on-boarding a Network Service Descriptor, enabling the VNF package, enabling the Network Service Descriptor, and sending appropriate responses to a Network Manager. Examples also provide corresponding methods.
Claims7
An apparatus comprising:
- an interface;
- and
- one or more processors, coupled with the interface, to:
- send a request to a network functions virtualization (NFV) orchestrator (NFVO) to update a network service that contains a virtualized network function (VNF) that is part of a base station;
- receive from the NFVO a network service lifecycle change notification indicating a start of a network service update;
- and
- receive from the NFVO the network service lifecycle change notification indicating a result of the network service update,
- wherein the network service update request is to update a transport network requirements between the VNF part and a physical network function part of the base station.
