## Abstract

A display apparatus includes a polarizer, a phase retardation film, a touch member, and a display panel. The polarizer has a transmitting axis and is configured to linearly polarize external light to be parallel to the transmitting axis. The phase retardation film is on the polarizer and has a first optical axis. The touch member has a second optical axis and comprises a touch substrate on the polarizer and touch electrodes on the touch substrate. The display panel is on the polarizer. When a first in-plane retardation value of the phase retardation film is Rp1, a second in-plane retardation value of the touch member is Rp2, a phase retardation value within a target surface is Rpg, and a is a constant, an equation Rp1=Rpg−a*Rp2 is satisfied.

## Claims

### Claim 1

a polarizer to linearly polarize incident light in a direction parallel to a transmitting axis;
a phase retardation film under the polarizer and configured to retard light passing through the polarizer by a first phase retardation value;
a touch member under the phase retardation film, the touch member comprising a touch substrate to retard light passing through the phase retardation film by a second phase retardation value and a touch electrode directly under the touch substrate; and
a display panel under the touch member and configured to reflect light passing through the touch member,
wherein the phase retardation film and the touch member are configured to delay the incident light by a target phase retardation value, and the first phase retardation value is based on the target phase retardation value and the second phase retardation value.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The display apparatus of claim 1, wherein the target phase retardation value has one fourth of the wavelength of the incident light.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The display apparatus of claim 1, wherein when the first phase retardation value is Rp1, the second phase retardation value is Rp2, the target phase retardation value is Rpg, and ‘a’ is a constant, an equation Rp1=Rpg−a*Rp2 is satisfied.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The display apparatus of claim 1, wherein the phase retardation film has a first refractivity in a first direction, a second refractivity in a second direction crossing the first direction, and a third refractivity in a third direction crossing the first direction and the second direction,
wherein the first refractivity is greater than the second refractivity, and the second refractivity and the third refractivity are the same.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The display apparatus of claim 1, wherein the phase retardation film is configured to elliptically polarize the light passing through the polarizer.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The display apparatus of claim 1, wherein the touch member is configured to circularly polarize the light passing through the phase retardation film.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The display apparatus of claim 1, wherein the phase retardation film has a first optical axis, the touch member has a second optical axis, and the first optical axis and the second optical axis are parallel to each other.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The display apparatus of claim 1, wherein the polarizer has an absorption axis perpendicular to the transmitting axis.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)
