## Abstract

Described are methods and compositions that provide for generating synthetic or recombinant proline rich peptides. In some aspects, p1978 compositions are used to inhibit breast cancer cell growth and thus provided is a method for treating and preventing breast cancer cell growth in a mammal.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of treating or preventing a cancer in a subject comprising administering an effective amount of a composition comprising a recombinant polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of p1978 (SEQ ID NO: 1).

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the cancer is a breast cancer.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the breast cancer is triple negative breast cancer.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the composition is administered by intravenous injection or catheter delivery.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the composition is administered by intravenous injection or catheter delivery.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein the composition is administered by intravenous injection or catheter delivery.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the recombinant polypeptide is a fusion protein comprising the amino acid sequence of p1978 (SEQ ID NO: 1) and a heterologous polypeptide sequence.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the recombinant polypeptide is no more than 50 amino acids in length.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the recombinant polypeptide is no more than 20 amino acids in length.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the N-terminus, the C-terminus or both are blocked.
