## Abstract

Methods and devices for the repair of a ruptured ligament using a scaffold device are provided. Aspects of the invention may include a scaffold attached by a suture to an anchor. In aspects of the invention, the anchor may be secured to a bone near or at the repair site.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for repairing a ligament exposed to synovial fluid, comprising:
threading a suture through an anchor, the anchor positioned on the first bone to resist load directed through the synovial fluid;
threading the suture through a scaffold; and
connecting the suture to a ruptured end of the ligament, the ruptured end of the ligament connected to a second bone.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising the steps of:
drilling a hole in the second bone, and
connecting a second suture to the second bone using a second anchor.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising attaching the anchor to the first bone.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising positioning the scaffold between the ruptured end of the ligament and the first bone.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the first bone is one of a femur or a tibia and the second bone is the other one of the femur or the tibia.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the scaffold comprises a porous collagen sponge.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising treating the scaffold with a repair material.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the repair material is a platelet or plasma.
