Abstract
An engine includes a crankshaft and a timing gear to be attached to the crankshaft so as to rotate integrally with the crankshaft. A fitting projection is provided on either one of the crankshaft and the timing gear, and a fitting recess to be fitted with the fitting projection, and erroneous-assembling prevention ribs to sandwich the fitting recess in a circumferential direction are provided on the other one of the crankshaft and the timing gear.

An engine comprising:
- a crankshaft;
- and
- a timing gear configured to be attached to the crankshaft so as to rotate integrally with the crankshaft,
- wherein a fitting projection which projects along the axial direction of the crankshaft is provided on either one of the crankshaft and the timing gear, and
- a fitting recess configured to be concave in a same direction as a projecting direction of the fitting projection and configured to be fitted with the fitting projection, and erroneous-assembling prevention ribs configured to sandwich the fitting recess in a circumferential direction are provided on the other one of the crankshaft and the timing gear and configured to project in the direction opposite to the projecting direction of the fitting projection with respect to an engagement surface where the crankshaft and the timing gear are engaged around the fitting projection.
