Abstract
Disclosed is an electrical stunning method that is delivered to the head of a slaughter animal. A direct and/or alternating current electric pulse or an electric pulse sequence including two or more direct and/or alternating current pulses is used in the method. Also disclosed is a slaughter method using the stunning method and a design for a device that can be used in the stunning method.
Claims20
Method for electrical stunning an animal (9), comprising the steps of:
- arranging the animal's head in a head box, wherein said head box comprises electrodes (3, 8), touching the animal's head;
- administering an electric pulse or electric pulse sequence to the electrodes;
- releasing the animal's head from the head box;
- wherein the electric pulse is a direct and/or alternating current pulse or the electric pulse sequence comprises two or more direct and/or alternating current pulses, wherein each of said pulses may be positive or negative with respect to zero volts, and wherein the amplitude of said pulses is from 2000 to 22000 V.
