Process and system for improved reclamation of mined lands

A process for generating an engineered reclamation material with high permeability and low plasticity that can be used to enable more rapid and improved land reclamation of disturbed lands, the process comprising:

• using controlled teed rates to mix, a clay slurry, a flocculant, a sand tailing and an overburden to generate the engineered reclamation material having a water to clay ratio that is less than about 1.22 with a clay solids content that is greater than about 45%, and a resulting waste;
• determining the recovery of solids of the feed to the product by calculating Cwp/Cwf×(Cwf−Cww)/(Cwp−Cww);
• and
• determining the recovery of water from the feed to the product by calculating (1−Cwp)/(1−Cwf)×((1−Cwf)−(1−Cww)/(Cwp−Cww), wherein Cwf is the solids concentration of the feed slurry, Cwp is the solids concentration of the product slurry, and Cww is the solids concentration of the waste slurry.

A process for generating an engineered reclamation material with high permeability and low plasticity that can be used to enable more rapid and improved land reclamation of disturbed lands, the process comprising:

• controlling one or more feed rate of at least one dewatering device of a mining system to mix a clay slurry, a flocculant, a sand tailing and an overburden to generate the engineered reclamation material having a sand to clay ratio ranging from 0.5:1 to 2.5:1 and the sand plus clay to overburden having a ratio ranging from 0.5:1 to 5.0:1 and a resulting waste;
• determining the recovery of solids of the feed to the product by calculating Cwp/Cwf×(Cwf−Cww)/(Cwp−Cww);
• and
• determining the recovery of water from the feed to the product by calculating (1−Cwp)/(1−Cwf)×((1−Cwf)/(1−Cww)/(Cwp−Cww), wherein Cwf is the solids concentration of the feed slurry, Cwp is the solids concentration of the product slurry, and Cww is the solids concentration of the waste slurry.
