Abstract
An intelligent transportation system, ITS, station (600) comprising: a host processor (640); and a memory (664) operably coupled to the host processor (640). The host processor (640) is configured to: perform verification per identity that includes precomputation of data for a plurality of neighbouring ITS stations of the ITS station (600); store precomputation data for the verified identity of the plurality of neighbouring ITS stations in the memory (664); and extract from memory (664) and use the stored precomputation data for a respective neighbouring ITS station to perform an accelerated verification of a subsequent message received from that neighbouring ITS station.

An intelligent transportation system (ITS) station comprising:
- a host processor;
- and
- a memory operably coupled to the host processor,
- wherein the ITS is characterised in that the host processor is configured to:
- perform identity verification for a plurality of neighbouring ITS stations of the ITS station, wherein for each neighbouring ITS station, the identity is based upon a public key (P) associated with that neighbouring ITS station, and upon a curve base point (G) of an Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) associated with that neighbouring ITS station;
- perform precomputation of data for each verified neighboring ITS station, wherein the precomputation data for each neighboring ITS station is formed as a table of entries of the form:
- P*2(k). . . P*2(0),
- G*2(k) . . . G*2(0), and
- (P+G)*2(k) . . . (P+G)*2(0),
- where k is a bit length of scalar values (u1 and u2), where u1 and u2 are determined based upon message contents of each message from each neighboring ITS station;
- store, for each verified neighboring ITS station, the table of entries in the memory, wherein P, G, u1, and u2 are nonzero integers;
- and
- perform message verification for each message received from a particular neighboring ITS station, wherein for each message, the message verification is based upon the scalar values (u1 and u2) determined for each message, and wherein for each message, the message verification includes adding selected entries from the table associated with the verified neighboring ITS station.
A host processor for an intelligent transportation system (ITS) station, the host processor comprising:
- an interface port for operably coupling to a memory;
- and
- a processing circuit configured to:
- perform identity verification for a plurality of neighbouring ITS stations of the ITS station, wherein for each neighbouring ITS station, the identity is based upon a public key associated with that neighbouring ITS station (P), and upon a curve base point (G) of an Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) associated with that neighbouring ITS station;
- perform precomputation of data for each verified neighboring ITS station, wherein the precomputation data for each neighboring ITS station is formed as a table of entries of the form:
- P*2(k) . . . P*2(0),
- G*2(k) . . . G*2(0), and
- (P+G)*2(k) . . . (P+G)*2(0),
- where k is a bit length of scalar values (u1 and u2), where u1 and u2 are determined based upon message contents of each message from each neighboring ITS station, wherein P, G, u1, and u2 are nonzero integers;
- store, for each verified neighboring ITS station, the table of entries in the memory;
- and
- perform message verification for each message received from a particular neighboring ITS station, wherein for each message, the message verification is based upon the scalar values (u1 and u2) determined for each message, and wherein for each message, the message verification includes adding selected entries from the table associated with the verified neighboring ITS station.
A method for operating an intelligent transportation system (ITS) station, the method comprising, at a host processor that is operably coupled to memory:
- performing identity verification for a plurality of neighbouring ITS stations of the ITS station, wherein for each neighbouring ITS station, the identity is based upon a public key associated with that neighbouring ITS station (P), and upon a curve base point (G) of an Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) associated with that neighbouring ITS station;
- performing precomputation of data for each verified neighboring ITS station, wherein the precomputation data for each neighboring ITS station is formed as a table of entries of the form:
- P*2(k) . . . P*2(0),
- G*2(k) . . . G*2(0), and
- (P+G)*2(k) . . . (P+G)*2(0),
- where k is a bit length of scalar values (u1 and u2), where u1 and u2 are determined based upon message contents of each message from each neighboring ITS station, wherein P, G, u1, and u2 are nonzero integers;
- storing, for each verified neighboring ITS station, the table of entries in the memory;
- and
- performing message verification for each message received from a particular neighboring ITS station, wherein for each message, the message verification is based upon the scalar values (u1 and u2) determined for each message, and wherein for each message, the message verification includes adding selected entries from the table associated with the verified neighboring ITS station.
