Abstract
Embodiments are directed to a method for encrypting data communications, including performing a stochastic procedure between a plurality of nodes, including at least a first node and a second node; collecting a measured outcome of the stochastic procedure, the measured outcome of the stochastic procedure providing a dependent random variable pair; and constructing an encryption key based on one or more correlations identified between at least a first random variable and a second random variable, the first and second random variables forming the dependent random variable pair.
Claims21
A method for encrypting data communications, comprising:
- performing a stochastic procedure between a plurality of nodes, including transmitting a plurality of packets between at least a first node and a second node via a user datagram protocol;
- collecting a measured outcome of the stochastic procedure, the measured outcome of the stochastic procedure providing a dependent random variable pair having at least a first random variable and a second random variable, wherein the first random variable and second random variable are functions of (i) a first travel time between the first node and the second node and (ii) a second travel time between the second node and the first node;
- and
- constructing an encryption key based on one or more correlations identified between the at least first random variable and a second random variable.
A system comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that are operative, when executed by the processor, to:
- perform a stochastic procedure between a plurality of nodes, including at least a first node and a second node by transmitting a plurality of packets between at least a first node and a second node via a user datagram protocol;
- collect a measured outcome of the stochastic procedure, the measured outcome of the stochastic procedure providing a dependent random variable pair having at least a first random variable and a second random variable, wherein the first random variable and second random variable are functions of (i) a first travel time between the first node and the second node and (ii) a second travel time between the second node and the first node;
- and
- construct an encryption key based on one or more correlations identified between at least a first random variable and a second random variable, the first and second random variables forming the dependent random variable pair.
