Abstract
A spark plug has a housing of a cylindrical shape and an insulator supported to an inside of the housing. A channel part is formed at a distal end side of the housing. The channel part is open so that the inside of the housing communicates with an outside of the housing through the channel part. The channel part has a channel bottom having a tapered shape oblique relative to a plug central axis. An overall channel bottom is arranged in the housing closer to a proximal end side than to the distal end side of the housing.
Claims10
A spark plug having a central axis and an axial direction, the spark plug comprising:
- a housing having a cylindrical shape around a circumferential direction of the spark plug, a distal end and a proximal end;
- an insulator accommodated on an inside of the housing, and
- a channel part which is a recessed portion locally formed at a distal end part of the housing, in the circumferential direction, the channel part being open to an inside and outside of the housing, providing communication between the inside and the outside of the housing, wherein
- the channel part comprises;
- a channel bottom formed obliquely inwards towards the proximal end of the housing, relative to the plug axial direction, and
- a pair of side surfaces which are formed on both edges of the channel bottom, parallel with the radial direction, the channel bottom of the channel part being positioned closer to the proximal end of the housing than the distal end part of the housing is.
