Abstract
The present invention relates to the stabilisation of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) capsids, by specific substitution of amino acids in a specific region of FMDV VP2. The invention provides stabilised FMDV capsids and vaccines against FMD.
Claims9
A foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) VP2 protein mutant, that comprises an amino acid substitution of a tyrosine at position number 93 (93Y), wherein the position number is relative to the numbering of the amino acids presented in SEQ ID NO:
- 1.
A vaccine against FMD comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and one or more of the following:
- a foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) VP2 protein mutant that comprises an amino acid substitution of a tyrosine at position number 93 (93Y), an FMDV capsid comprising said FMDV VP2 protein mutant, and an isolated host cell comprising said FMDV VP2 protein mutant;
- wherein the position number is relative to the numbering of the amino acids presented in SEQ ID NO:
- 1.
