Rapidly cooling food and drinks

A pod for providing a single serving of a cooled food or drink, the pod comprising:

• a substantially rigid container having a first end and a sidewall, the first end and the sidewall together defining an interior, a portion of the first end configured to be opened by an application of a force;
• a mixing paddle movably disposed within the interior of the substantially rigid container;
• the mixing paddle operable to stir at least one ingredient;
• a drive head coupled to the mixing paddle such that rotation of the drive head causes rotation of the mixing paddle, the drive head comprising exterior threads on a cylindrical outer surface and defining a receptacle for engaging with a driveshaft of a machine to couple rotation of the driveshaft and the drive head;
• and
• a seal member fixed to a second end of the substantially rigid container, the seal member comprising an internal thread engaged with the exterior threads of the drive head such that a rotation of the drive head in a first direction relative to the seal member fixed in position causes an axial translation of the drive head relative to the seal member and into the interior.
