Abstract
A clip-on module having a specialized housing design, probe contacts, switches, various advertising modes, and various configurations of signal repeaters is disclosed. The module is utilized via attachment to a specialized garment worn by a human patient. To properly apply the housing to the garment, a user will squeeze the module to open using tactile features embedded within the housing, locate the module, and then press-clamp the module to close and attach it. A plurality of probe contacts within the module have sharpness requirements for penetrating one or more layers of the garment while still maintaining low resistance, and will work with a backing material for probe.
Claims18
A method of manufacturing a clip-on electronics module for a garment containing moisture sensing electrodes, comprising:
- configuring a housing to comprise
- a battery;
- a plurality of electronic components;
- a clip portion to be placed over a waistband of the garment;
- a switch panel that covers a plurality of switches;
- an LED indicator;
- and
- a battery door for access to batteries within the module;
- configuring the housing to have a raised ridge on a bottom of the housing providing tactile feedback and improving a grip when squeezing the module during attachment and removal;
- and
- assembling the module by performing the following steps:
- punching a plurality of neoprene backing elements;
- cutting a hinge rod to specific predetermined length and finishing the two ends of the hinge rod;
- cleaning a plurality of hinge rod holes made within the housing and clip portions;
- setting a plurality of threaded brass inserts within the housing;
- bonding the plurality of neoprene backing elements to the housing;
- arranging a plurality of spring probes, each of the plurality of spring probes having exactly one probe tip, and trimming the plurality of probe tips;
- soldering the spring probes and a flex cable to a main printed circuit board;
- performing an initial power test and programming the main printed circuit board for the module;
- assembling the housing;
- installing the main printed circuit board within the housing;
- performing a functional testing on the module to affirm proper electronic functionality;
- and
- heating the hinge rod and pushing the hinge rod into a predetermined location within the housing.
