Current steering digital-to-analog conversion systems

An apparatus, comprising:

• a plurality of digital-to-analog converter (DAC) driver circuits comprising a first DAC driver circuit and a second DAC driver circuit;
• and
• a load network,
• wherein the first DAC driver circuit comprises first data switches, first output switches, first dump switches, and first current sources,
• wherein the second DAC driver circuit comprises second output switches, second dump switches, and second current sources,
• wherein the first output switches or the second output switches are configured to respectively connect either one of the first data switches or the second current sources to the load network, and
• wherein the first dump switches or the second dump switches are configured to respectively dump the first current sources or the second current sources into a dump load.

A method for current steering in a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) apparatus, wherein the DAC apparatus comprises a plurality of DAC driver circuits, wherein the plurality of DAC driver circuits comprises a DAC driver circuit, wherein the plurality of DAC driver circuits comprises first data switches, first output switches, second output switches, first dump switches, second dump switches, first current sources, and second current sources, and wherein the method comprises:

• supplying a digital input signal to the first data switches of the plurality of DAC driver circuits;
• operating the first output switches or the second output switches to respectively couple either one of the first data switches or the second current sources to a load network;
• and
• operating the first dump switches or the second dump switches to steer current from the first current sources or the second current sources into a respective dump load.
