Abstract
Described herein are compositions and methods of treating a cardiac condition using modified placental tissue or an extract of a placental tissue, capable of recruiting stem cells or promoting healing in vivo and in vitro.
Claims6
A composition for treating damaged cardiac tissue, said composition comprising dehydrated, cleaned, and disinfected placental tissue configured for non-obstructive placement to an area approximate to a damaged cardiac tissue in an amount sufficient to reduce damage and induce healing;
- said placental tissue comprising a dehydrated amnion and a dehydrated chorion, said dehydrated amnion having an epithelial cell layer and/or a fibroblast layer;
- and
- wherein said composition is in the form of a patch;
- is in an injectable form;
- or is micronized.
