Abstract
A surgical patient support includes a foundation frame, a support top, and a brake system. The foundation frame includes a first column and a second column. The support top is coupled to the first column and the second column for rotation about a top axis extending along the length of the support top. A single-handle unlock for the support top is also provided.

A bracket for coupling a patient support top to a spine surgery table having a foundation frame including a coupler block that includes first and second retainer pegs extending therefrom in opposite directions, the bracket comprising:
- a base member,
- a first coupling member coupled to the base member and extending substantially perpendicular to the base member, the first coupling member formed to include a first retainer slot adapted to receive the first retainer peg therein when the bracket is coupled to the coupler block,
- a second coupling member coupled to the base member and extending substantially perpendicular to the base member, the second coupling member formed to include a second retainer slot adapted to receive the second retainer peg of the coupler block when the bracket is coupled to the coupler block, and
- a secondary retainer adapted to couple the first coupling member to the coupler block, the first and second coupling members being adapted to be pivotable relative to the retainer pegs when the secondary retainer is decoupled from the first coupling member and from the coupler block, wherein the first and second coupling members are adapted to be prevented from pivoting relative to the retainer pegs when the secondary retainer is coupled to the first coupling member and coupled to the coupler block, wherein the first coupling member includes a first hole therethrough and the secondary retainer includes a pin that is adapted to extend through the first hole and into a pin-receiving bore formed in the coupler block.
A surgical patient support apparatus comprising:
- a foundation frame having a first lift column, a coupler block mounted for rotation to an upper region of the first lift column, and first and second retainer pegs extending from the coupler block in opposite directions,
- a patient support top,
- a bracket configured to couple an end of the patient support top to the coupler block, the bracket being attachable to and detachable from the coupler block, the bracket comprising
- a base member,
- a first coupling member coupled to the base member and extending substantially perpendicular to the base member, the first coupling member formed to include a first retainer slot configured to receive the first retainer peg therein when the bracket is coupled to the coupler block, and
- a second coupling member coupled to the base member and extending substantially perpendicular to the base member, the second coupling member formed to include a second retainer slot adapted to receive the second retainer peg of the coupler block when the bracket is coupled to the coupler block, and
- a secondary retainer to couple the bracket to the coupler block, the first and second coupling members being pivotable relative to the retainer pegs when the secondary retainer is decoupled from the bracket and from the coupler block, wherein the bracket is prevented from pivoting relative to the retainer pegs when the secondary retainer is coupled to the bracket and coupled to the coupler block, wherein the first coupling member includes a first hole therethrough and the secondary retainer includes a pin that extends through the first hole and into a pin-receiving bore formed in the coupler block.
- a base member,
- a first coupling member coupled to the base member and extending substantially perpendicular to the base member, the first coupling member formed to include a first retainer slot configured to receive the first retainer peg therein when the bracket is coupled to the coupler block, and
- a second coupling member coupled to the base member and extending substantially perpendicular to the base member, the second coupling member formed to include a second retainer slot adapted to receive the second retainer peg of the coupler block when the bracket is coupled to the coupler block,
- a secondary retainer to couple the bracket to the coupler block, the first and second coupling members being pivotable relative to the retainer pegs when the secondary retainer is decoupled from the bracket and from the coupler block, wherein the bracket is prevented from pivoting relative to the retainer pegs when the secondary retainer is coupled to the bracket and coupled to the coupler block, and
- a second bracket configured to detachably couple to the coupler block, the second bracket having a third coupling member that is aligned with the first coupling member and that extends from the coupler block in an opposite direction from the first coupling member, and the second bracket having a third coupling member that is aligned with the second coupling member and that extends from the coupler block in an opposite direction from the second coupling member.
- a base member,
- a first coupling member coupled to the base member and extending substantially perpendicular to the base member, the first coupling member formed to include a first retainer slot configured to receive the first retainer peg therein when the bracket is coupled to the coupler block, and
- a second coupling member coupled to the base member and extending substantially perpendicular to the base member, the second coupling member formed to include a second retainer slot adapted to receive the second retainer peg of the coupler block when the bracket is coupled to the coupler block,
- a secondary retainer to couple the bracket to the coupler block, the first and second coupling members being pivotable relative to the retainer pegs when the secondary retainer is decoupled from the bracket and from the coupler block, wherein the bracket is prevented from pivoting relative to the retainer pegs when the secondary retainer is coupled to the bracket and coupled to the coupler block, and
- a cross pin to couple the patient support top to the first and second coupling members of the bracket and wherein the patient support top includes a slidable, floatable coupling member extending from a slot in an end frame member of the patient support top and the slidable, floatable coupling member having a pin receiving bore to receive the cross pin.
