Abstract
Provided are compounds and methods for treating neurodegenerative diseases and conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, using an estrogen receptor-β ligand (ERβ ligand).

A method of treating multiple sclerosis, comprising orally administering an ERβ ligand to a subject in need thereof wherein the ERβ ligand is a compound of Formula (I)
- wherein
- R1 and R2 are each independently —C(O)—R3;
- and
- each R3 is independently selected from alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxyalkyl, aryloxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, heterocyclyl, heterocyclylalkyl, heteroaryl, and heteroarylalkyl.
