System and method of preparing aluminum sulfate

A method of preparing liquid aluminum sulfate, the method comprising the steps of:

• feeding a sulfuric acid waste output into a mixing vessel, the mixing vessel comprising access to a water solution;
• combining the water solution with the sulfuric acid waste output in the mixing vessel;
• mixing the water solution and the sulfuric acid waste output to form a mixed solution;
• and
• adding an alumina-containing compound to the mixed solution to form aluminum sulfate wherein the feeding step comprises piping the sulfuric acid waste output directly into the mixing vessel from a manufacturing process.

A system of preparing liquid aluminum sulfate, the system comprising:

• a sulfuric acid waste output of a manufacturing facility in communication with a mixing vessel at the manufacturing facility, said mixing vessel comprising a rotatable shaft;
• an impeller attached to the rotatable shaft;
• a motor connected to the rotatable shaft;
• a first tank in communication with the mixing vessel, the first tank comprising a water solution;
• and
• a second tank in communication with the mixing vessel, the second tank comprising an alumina-containing compound.
