Modular coordinated lighting system

An electronic device comprising:

• a sensor;
• a wireless transceiver;
• one or more processors;
• and
• memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the electronic device to perform operations comprising:
• generating a first signal using the sensor;
• detecting a first event based at least in part on the first signal;
• based at least in part on detecting the event, sending, using the wireless transceiver, first data representing a first command to turn on a first light source;
• generating a second signal using the sensor;
• detecting, based at least in part on the second signal, that a second event is not occurring during a first time interval since detecting the first event;
• determining that a second time interval has elapsed since sending the first data, the first time interval being longer than the second time interval;
• and
• based at least in part on determining that the second time interval has elapsed, sending using the wireless transceiver, second data representing a second command to turn off the first light source.

A method comprising:

• receiving a first signal from a sensor;
• detecting first event based at least in part on the first signal;
• based at least in part on detecting the event, sending to an electronic device, first data representing a first command to turn on a light source;
• starting a first timer for a first time interval, the first timer for determining when to communicate with the electronic device;
• and
• starting a second timer for a second time interval, the second timer for determining when to turn off the light source.
