Abstract

The method comprises receiving periodic CSI feedback configuration information including a periodicity value and an offset value corresponding to a first CSI report, and at least one periodicity value and at least one offset value corresponding to a second CSI report, measuring a first CSI reference signal (CSI-RS) and a second CSI-RS configured for a periodic CSI reporting based on at least two different enhanced MIMO types (eMIMO-Types), generating the first CSI report and the second CSI report for the first eMIMO-Type and the second eMIMO-Type, respectively, determining a periodic reporting interval for each of the first CSI report and the second CSI report, and reporting the first and second CSI reports based on the determined periodic reporting intervals using a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) format 2 or a PUCCH format 3 or a combination of the PUCCH format 2 and the PUCCH format 3.

Dependent claims

A user equipment (UE) for communicating in a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) wireless communication system, the UE comprising:

a transceiver configured to receive, from a base station (BS), channel state information (CSI) feedback configuration information;
and
at least one processor configured to:
identify one or more CSI-reference signals (CSI-RSs) based on the CSI feedback configuration information;
measure the identified one or more CSI-RSs;
generate, based on the measured one or more CSI-RSs, a CSI report including a wideband first precoding matrix indicator (PMI) and first rank indicator (RI), wherein the CSI report is generated using a codebook for a first enhanced MIMO type (eMIMO type);
and
identify reporting instances for periodic reporting of the CSI report, based on two configured eMIMO-Types including the first eMIMO-Type and a second eMIMO-Type, in subframes satisfying:
(10×nf+└ns/2┘−NOFFSET,CQI−NOFFSET,RI−NOFFSET,PMI/RI)mod(Npd·MRI·MPMI/RI)=0
if a number of antenna ports associated with the second eMIMO-Type is more than 1, or
(10×nf+└ns/2┘−NOFFSET,CQI−NOFFSET,PMI/RI)mod(Npd·MPMI/RI)=0
if the number of antenna ports associated with the second eMIMO-Type is 1,
wherein:
nf, ns, MPMI/RI, NOFFSET,PMI/RI, MRI, Npd, NOFFSET,CQI, and NOFFSET,RI are positive integers,
nf is a frame number,
ns is a slot number,
MPMI/RI is a periodicity for reporting PMI/RI,
NOFFSET,PMI/RI is an offset for reporting PMI/RI,
MRI is a periodicity for reporting RI,
Npd is a periodicity for reporting CQI/PMI,
NOFFSET,CQI is an offset for reporting CQI/PMI, and
NOFFSET,RI is an offset for reporting RI, and
wherein the transceiver is further configured to report the CSI report in the identified reporting instances.

A base station (BS) for communicating in a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) wireless communication system, the BS comprising:

a transceiver configured to transmit, to a user equipment (UE), channel state information (CSI) feedback configuration information for a CSI report to include a wideband first precoding matrix indicator (PMI) and first rank indicator (RI), wherein the CSI report is generated using a codebook for a first enhanced MIMO type (eMIMO type);
and
at least one processor configured to identify reporting instances, for receiving periodic reporting of the CSI report, based on two configured eMIMO-Types including the first eMIMO-Type and a second eMIMO-Type, in subframes satisfying:
(10×nf+└ns/2┘−NOFFSET,CQI−NOFFSET,RI−NOFFSET,PMI/RI)mod(Npd·MRI·MPMI/RI)=0
if a number of antenna ports associated with at least one eMIMO-Type for CSI-RS measurement is more than 1, or
(10×nf+└ns/2┘−NOFFSET,CQI−NOFFSET,PMI/RI)mod(Npd·MPMI/RI)=0
if the number of antenna ports associated with the at least one eMIMO-Type is 1,
wherein:
nf, ns,MPMI/RI, NOFFSET,PMI/RI, MRI, Npd, NOFFSET,CQI, and NOFFSET,RI are positive integers,
nf is a frame number,
ns is a slot number,
MPMI/RI is a periodicity for reporting PMI/RI,
NOFFSET,PMI/RI is an offset for reporting PMI/RI,
