Facilitating forward-compatible receivers in wireless communications systems

An apparatus, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
• determining whether a mobile device is permitted to override a reserved resource allocation applicable to a physical resource;
• and
• controlling the mobile device based on a result of the determining, wherein the controlling comprises:
• in response to the result indicating that the mobile device is not permitted to override the reserved resource allocation, instructing, via a first type of implicit indication, the mobile device to operate a transceiver of the mobile device according to a first defined behavior associated with not overriding the reserved resource allocation, and
• in response to the result indicating that the mobile device is permitted to override the reserved resource allocation, instructing, via a second type of implicit indication, the mobile device to operate the transceiver according to a second defined behavior associated with overriding the reserved resource allocation, wherein the second defined behavior is different from the first defined behavior.
