Methods and apparatus for dynamic network classification using authenticated neighbor detection

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause a computing device to at least:

• determine whether a network to be connected to by the computing device is a managed network based on network configuration information associated with the network;
• in response to determining the network is not a managed network, determine a number of different computing devices on the network that are managed computing devices;
• and
• in response to determining that the number of the managed computing devices satisfies a threshold, invoke a sensor of the computing device to obtain data from computing devices associated with the network, the computing devices associated with the network including the managed computing devices.

A method for dynamic network classification, the method comprising:

• determining whether a network to be connected to by a computing device is a managed network based on network configuration information associated with the network;
• in response to determining the network is not a managed network, determine a number of different computing devices on the network that are managed computing devices;
• and
• in response to determining that the number of the managed computing devices satisfies a threshold, invoking a sensor of the computing device to obtain data from computing devices associated with the network, the computing devices associated with the network including the managed computing devices.

An apparatus for dynamic network classification, the apparatus comprising:

• means for determining whether a network to be connected to by a computing device is a managed network based on network configuration information associated with the network;
• means for identifying a number of different computing devices on the network that are managed computing devices in response to determining the network is not a managed network;
• and
• means for invoking a sensor of the computing device to obtain data from computing devices associated with the network in response to determining that the number of the managed computing devices satisfies a threshold, the computing devices associated with the network including the managed computing devices.

An apparatus for dynamic network classification, the apparatus comprising:

• at least one memory;
• and
• at least one processor to execute instructions to at least:
• determine whether a network is a managed network based on network configuration information associated with the network, the network to be connected to a computing device;
• in response to determining the network is not a managed network, determine a number of different computing devices on the network that are managed computing devices;
• and
• in response to determining that the number of the managed computing devices satisfies a threshold, invoke a sensor of the computing device to obtain data from computing devices associated with the network, the computing devices associated with the network including the managed computing devices.

An apparatus comprising:

• at least one memory;
• and
• at least one processor to execute instructions to at least:
• generate an executable;
• and
• transmit the executable to a computing device, the computing device to execute the executable to cause the computing device to:
• determine whether a network is a managed network based on network configuration information associated with the network, the network to be connected to the computing device;
• in response to determining the network is not a managed network, determine a number of different computing devices on the network that are managed computing devices;
• and
• in response to determining that the number of the managed computing devices satisfies a threshold, invoke a sensor of the computing device to obtain data from computing devices associated with the network, the computing devices associated with the network including the managed computing devices.
