Configuration aspects of a tracking reference signal in new radio

A method for wireless communication by a base station, comprising:

• selecting a frequency offset parameter;
• transmitting configuration information indicating the frequency offset parameter;
• and
• transmitting a tracking reference signal (TRS) transmission having a frequency offset corresponding to the frequency offset parameter.

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• a processor;
• memory in electronic communication with the processor;
• and
• instructions stored in the memory and executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:
• receive configuration information indicating a frequency offset parameter;
• detect a tracking reference signal (TRS) transmission within a frequency band based at least in part on the frequency offset parameter;
• and
• perform resource tracking based at least in part on the detected TRS transmission.

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• a processor;
• memory in electronic communication with the processor;
• and
• instructions stored in the memory and executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:
• select a frequency offset parameter;
• transmit configuration information indicating the frequency offset parameter;
• and
• transmit a tracking reference signal (TRS) transmission having a frequency offset corresponding to the frequency offset parameter.
