Apparatus and method for controlling inverter driving motor

A method for controlling an inverter driving a motor, comprising:

• generating, by a controller, a fundamental frequency that is a reference for determining a switching frequency of a switching device in an inverter;
• determining, by the controller, a frequency change width for changing the switching frequency based on driving information of a motor that is operated by driving power provided from the inverter;
• determining, by the controller, a plurality of multiples for determining a plurality of predetermined synchronization frequencies to be used when synchronization pulse width modulation is applied;
• determining, by the controller, a frequency change range by applying the frequency change width around the fundamental frequency;
• determining, by the controller, a multiple selection range by applying a speed of the motor to a maximum frequency and a minimum frequency of the frequency change range;
• randomly selecting, by the controller, one multiple from a plurality of multiples existing between a maximum value and minimum value of the multiple selection range of the multiples determined by the determining of a plurality of multiples;
• and
• determining, by the controller, the switching frequency based on the multiple randomly selected in the selecting of one multiple and a speed of the motor.
