Abstract
An imaging device is presented for use in an imaging system capable of improving the image quality. The imaging device has one or more optical systems defining an effective aperture of the imaging device. The imaging device comprises a lens system having an algebraic representation matrix of a diagonalized form defining a first Condition Number, and a phase encoder utility adapted to effect a second Condition Number of an algebraic representation matrix of the imaging device, smaller than said first Condition Number of the lens system.

- a phase encoder utility adapted to effect a second Condition Number of an algebraic representation matrix of the imaging device, smaller than said first Condition Number of the lens system.
An imaging system comprising:
- the imaging device of any one of the preceding claims, an image detection unit, and a control system configured and operable to process and analyze data indicative of images detected by said detection unit by applying to said data inversion of a predetermined PSF matrix corresponding to the algebraic representation matrix of an optical system having space-variant aberrations.
A monitoring system for monitoring operation of a linear mechanical system, the monitoring system comprising:
- a main measurement system characterize by an algebraic representation matrix H, an auxiliary measurement system characterized by an auxiliary system matrix O, and a control unit, the main and auxiliary measurement systems being configured and operable for performing a finite series of n measurements from n locations of said linear mechanical system, the control unit being configured and operable to process data indicative of said measurements performed by the auxiliary system according to predetermined decomposition transformation matrixes and to sum main system measured data with the processed auxiliary data, thereby obtaining measured data corresponding an improved conditioned parallel measurement system.
An imaging system comprising:
- an imaging device comprising a basic lens system and a phase encoder and defining an effective aperture, the basic lens system having an algebraic representation matrix of a diagonalized form defining a first Condition Number, the phase encoder being configured to effect a second Condition Number of an algebraic representation matrix of the imaging device, the phase encoder comprising a first pattern which is located in a first region aligned, along an optical axis of the lens system, with a part of said effective aperture, leaving a remaining part of the effective aperture free of said first pattern, geometry of said first region and configuration of said first pattern therein being selected to define a predetermined first phase correction function induced by said first pattern onto light passing therethrough, the second Condition Number of the imaging device being thereby smaller than said first Condition Number of the lens system;
- an image detection unit, and
- a control system configured and operable to process and analyze data indicative of images detected by said detection unit to restore an image of an object with significantly reduced image blur.
An imaging system comprising:
- an optical system comprising first and second lens systems with the common field of view, wherein a first lens system has a first optical axis and a first Numerical Aperture;
- and a second lens system has a second optical axis parallel to and spaced-apart from said first optical axis and a second Numerical Aperture smaller than said first Numerical Aperture,
- an imaging detection unit for detecting light collected by the first and second lens systems and generating image data indicative thereof;
- and
- a control system for receiving and processing said image data, the processing comprising duplicating and shifting a second image, corresponding to the light collected by the second lens system, with respect to a first image, corresponding to light collected by the first lens system, and producing a reconstructed image data.
An image processing method comprising:
- receiving image data, said image data comprising a first data portion corresponding to a first image of a region of interest with a certain field of view and a Numerical Aperture of light collection and a second data portion corresponding to a second image of said region of interest with said certain field of view and a Numerical Aperture of light collection;
- and processing the image data by duplicating and shifting the second image with respect to the first image and producing a reconstructed image data.
A method for reducing image blur in an optical system, the method comprising:
- obtaining an algebraic representation matrix of an optical system;
- diagonalizing said algebraic representation matrix, thus obtaining a first diagonal matrix S;
- selecting n eigenvalues from a total of N eigenvalues of said diagonal matrix S, which are located in n positions, respectively, along a diagonal of said diagonal matrix S,
- selecting a second diagonal matrix ΔS having substantially the same size as said first diagonal matrix S, said second diagonal matrix ΔS having n numbers on its diagonal in positions corresponding to said n respective positions in the first diagonal matrix S, and having all other numbers equal zero
- applying an inverse operation of said diagonalization on the matrix sum of first diagonal matrix S and second diagonal matrix ΔS, thus obtaining a third matrix O
- applying a correction function on light passing through the optical system, such that an algebraic representation matrix of the optical system affected by said correction function, approximates matrix O.
