Image display device and image display method

An image display method, the method comprising:

• a display step of displaying, on a head-up display, a display image, and using a color information target value as a color information value of a display color being a color of the displayed image;
• and
• a second image correction step of, in a case where a color information value of a background color being a color of a background image obtained by capturing a background of the display image displayed by the display step on the head-up display is the same as or similar to the color information value of the display color of the display image obtained by capturing the display image displayed by the display step on the head-up display, correcting a color on one of a surrounding part of the display image displayed by the display step on the head-up display, an entire surface of an image display area being a range on which the display image is displayed by the display step on the head-up display excluding the display image, an inside of the display image, and an outside part of the display image, into a correction color being a color having a color information value that is different from and not similar to the color information value of the obtained background color and the color information value of the obtained display color.
