Ink jet recording method and ink jet recording apparatus

A method of forming an image on a recording medium using an ink jet recording apparatus, the ink jet recording apparatus including a recording head having a plurality of recording element substrates arranged in an arrangement direction so that ends of the adjacent recording element substrates overlap each other in the arrangement direction to form joint portions, each recording element substrate including a plurality of ejection orifice arrays, the method comprising:

• ejecting a first ink from ejection orifices of a first ejection orifice array, the first ejection orifice array being one of the plurality of ejection orifice arrays of each recording element substrate, the ejection orifices of the first ejection orifice array being arranged in the arrangement direction and formed on an ejection orifice surface of each recording element substrate;
• ejecting a second ink from ejection orifices of a second ejection orifice array, the second ejection orifice array being one of the plurality of ejection orifice arrays of each recording element substrate, the ejection orifices of the second ejection orifice array being arranged in the arrangement direction and formed on the ejection orifice surface of each recording element substrate;
• and
• wiping the ejection orifice surfaces of the plurality of recording element substrates with a plurality of blade wipers arranged in the arrangement direction so that ends of the adjacent wipers overlap each other in the arrangement direction to form wiper overlapping portions, the plurality of wipers being brought into contact with the ejection orifice surfaces in a direction intersecting the arrangement direction of the recording element substrates to first wipe the first ejection orifice array and then wipe the second ejection orifice array, at least a part of the wiper overlapping portion wiping the joint portion,
• wherein a dynamic surface tension (γD1) of the first ink is equal to or more than a static surface tension (γS2) of the second ink.
