## Abstract

The present invention relates to methods of restoring brain development in individuals with Down syndrome with a flavone derivative, 7,8-dihydroxyflavone (7,8-DHF).

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of decreasing likelihood of developing intellectual disability in subjects affected by Down syndrome said method comprising:
administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of a TrkB receptor agonist to said subjects and
decreasing the likelihood of said intellectual disability in said subjects, wherein said TrkB receptor agonist is 7,8-dihydroxyflavone.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein said administering step takes places prenatally.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein said administering step takes places perinatally.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein said administering step takes places neonatally.

### Claim 5

A method of treating intellectual disability in subjects affected by Down syndrome said method comprising:
administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of a TrkB receptor agonist to said subjects and
treating said intellectual disability in said subjects, wherein said TrkB receptor agonist is 7,8-dihydroxyflavone.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein said administering step takes places prenatally.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein said administering step takes places perinatally.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein said administering step takes places neonatally.
