## Abstract

The present invention provides animal feed or animal feed additives comprising one or more polypeptides having lysozyme activity. The invention also provides polypeptides having lysozyme activity, polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides as well as methods of producing and using the polypeptides.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of treatment of a Clostridium perfringens infection and/or necrotic enteritis in an animal, comprising the steps of administering a polypeptide having lysozyme activity to the animal, wherein the polypeptide has at least 80% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 257.

### Claim 2

A method of improving the performance of an animal, comprising administering a polypeptide having lysozyme activity to the animal, wherein the polypeptide has at least 80% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 257.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the polypeptide has at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 257.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the animal is a poultry and the improved performance is improved weight gain, feed conversion ratio or European Production Efficacy Factor.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the animal is a piglet and the improved performance is improved feed conversion ratio or body weight gain.

### Claim 6

A nucleic acid construct or expression vector comprising a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide having lysozyme activity, wherein the polynucleotide is operably linked to one or more control sequences that direct the production of the polypeptide in a recombinant host cell and wherein the polypeptide has at least 80% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 257.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

A recombinant host cell comprising the nucleic acid construct of claim 6.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

A method of producing a polypeptide having lysozyme activity, comprising:
(a) cultivating the recombinant host cell of claim 7 under conditions conducive for production of the polypeptide; and
(b) recovering the polypeptide.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, wherein the polypeptide has at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 257.
