Abstract
A system and method reconstructs RF sources in k-space by utilizing interference between RF signals detected by an array of antennas. The system and method may include detecting an RF interference pattern resulting from interference between RF signals in an RF coupler, where the RF signals are detected by the antennas and provided to the RF coupler by RF waveguides. The RF waveguides may have unequal RF path lengths. K-space information of the RF sources may be reconstructed from the detected RF interference pattern using known tomography reconstruction methods.

A receiver comprising:
- a phased-array antenna array including a plurality of antennas to receive RF radiation from at least a first RF source in an RF scene, each antenna being configured to output a corresponding first RF electrical signal in response to the received radiation;
- an RF coupler having a plurality of inputs and a plurality of outputs;
- a plurality of RF waveguides to provide a plurality of RF electrical signal paths, each RF electrical signal path extending between a corresponding antenna to a corresponding input of the RF coupler to provide an input to the RF coupler corresponding to the corresponding first RF electrical signal output by the corresponding antenna;
- a plurality of RF detectors, each coupled to a corresponding output of the RF coupler to receive a corresponding second RF electrical signal from a corresponding output of the RF coupler and configured to provide a corresponding output;
- and
- a processor configured to determine frequency and location information of the first RF source as a function of the outputs of the RF detectors,
- wherein the RF coupler is configured to provide interference between plural ones of the first RF electrical signals received from the plurality of RF waveguides to generate the second RF electrical signals at the outputs of the RF coupler.
A receiver comprising:

- an RF coupler having inputs coupled to corresponding antennas via corresponding electrical signal paths to receive the second RF signals respectively corresponding to the first RF signals output by the antennas, an interference space to provide interference between the received second RF signals, and a plurality of outputs to output an interference pattern of the interfered second RF signals;
- and
- a processor configured to determine in real time frequency and location information of each of the plurality of RF sources based upon the interference pattern output by the RF coupler.
