Abstract
A method for determining filtering capabilities of a magnification device suitable for providing protection from light when viewed through the magnification device is disclosed. The filtering capability of the magnification device is determined based at least one of an input power of the inputted light signal, a magnification level of the magnification device and an orientation of the filtering within the magnification device. Further disclosed is an lighting system that generates a light, which when reflected into the magnification device is prevent from causing damage to a user's eyes based on the selection of the filtering system disclosed herein.
Claims15
A vision enhancing device, comprising:
- a frame configured to attach to a user;
- a magnification device configured to:
- attach to said frame, said magnification device comprising:
- an optical magnification system configured to:
- magnify an incoming light by a known factor of magnification;
- and
- a filtering system comprising:
- a first filter comprising a first optical density, wherein said first optical density is determined based on a magnitude of said incoming light, said first filter configured to:
- attenuate said magnitude of said incoming light to a residual magnitude, wherein said incoming light is in a first known wavelength range;
- and
- a second filter comprising a second optical density, wherein said second optical density is based at least on the first optical density and the known factor of magnification, said second filter configured to:
- attenuate said residual magnitude to a second residual magnitude, wherein said second residual magnitude is less than a known value;
- and
- allow passage of light within a second wavelength range.
A viewing device comprising:
- a magnification device comprising:
- an objective lens;
- and
- an eye lens, said objective lens and said eye lens selected to achieve a level of magnification;
- and
- a filtering system comprising:
- a first filter comprising a first optical density, wherein the first optical density is selected based on an input power of a light inputted to said magnification device, and
- a second filter comprising a second optical density, wherein the second optical density is selected based on said first optical density and said level of magnification, wherein said filtering system is configured to:
- block a light within a first wavelength range of said light inputted into said magnification device;
- and
- allow passage of a light within a second wavelength range of said light inputted into said magnification device, wherein said light within said second wavelength range is generated based on an interaction of said light within said first wavelength range with an object.
