Fiber optic enclosure with internal cable spool

A fiber optic enclosure comprising:

• a housing including a base and a cover, the base being positioned at a rear of the housing and the cover being positioned at a front of the housing, the housing including a plurality of side walls that extend forwardly from the base, the base and the side walls cooperating to define at least a portion of an interior region of the housing, the cover being hingedly engaged with one of the side walls by a hinge so as to be capable of pivoting relative to the base and the side walls between an open position and a closed position, the side walls defining a front opening of the housing that is covered when the cover is in the closed position, the hinge being forwardly offset from the base and being positioned at a forward end of the side wall to which the hinge is engaged;
• a spool mountable within the interior region of the housing through the front opening;
• a fiber optic cable coiled about a spooling portion of the spool, the fiber optic cable including at least one optical fiber;
• a fiber optic connector coupled to the at least one optical fiber;
• the fiber optic cable being payable from the spool while the spool is positioned within the interior region of the housing, the spool being configured to rotate relative to the housing about an axis of rotation as the fiber optic cable is paid out from the spool, wherein the fiber optic connector rotates in concert with the spool as the fiber optic cable is paid out from the spool;
• and
• a fiber optic adapter positioned within the interior region of the housing, wherein the side walls are devoid of openings suitable for mounting the fiber optic adapter.
